My Story

Her background includes studying TaiChi Chuan and Qi Gong at the Taoist Institute for Internal Arts in Burbank, CA, under Dr. Carl Totton and Master John Bright-Fey along with studying other various martial arts and yoga.

Diane also studied with Dr. Do Ann Kaneko and completed his program at the Shiatsu School of Massage, the Tao of Healing Arts, in Santa Monica CA in 1988.

In 1990 she traveled to Beijing, China for training and certification in Tui-Na — Chinese massage therapy and orthopedic manipulation — at the Beijing International Center for Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, while also working at the renowned Guan An Men Hospital, where she was honored with a special letter of recommendation. There she was fortunate to meet Qi Gong Master Jiao Gourui, and experience qi gong therapy from this famous teacher.

While pursuing her advanced degrees in the United States, Diane returned to Beijing in 2005 where she again attended the Beijing International Center and received their coveted Certificate in Acupuncture. While there she worked in various hospitals that combined western and eastern medicine and studied with both her teacher, QiWei Zheng and his teacher, the venerable Chen XinNong, who was the main author of the foundational modern text on acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, written at the behest of Mao TseTung in the 1950's.

Diane has also been on staff at Eisenhower Medical Center’s La Quinta facility. Many know her from the bi-monthly articles on TCM and health she writes for Desert Health News.

Before founding AcQPoint, Dr. Sheppard maintained a private practice in Brentwood, California.
